Information Assurance Focus in Cisco Certifications
Posted in Uncategorized with tags CCNA with security, cisco, information assurance, LAN security, network security, WAN security on February 24, 2009 by administratorCisco recently introduced certifications for the CCNA that allow you to gain a focus or concentration. There are currently three options, voice, wireless and security. They are basically lower level (or less difficult) tests that you can take to achieve this addition to your CCNA.
I have a feeling that the CCNA with Security is going to be the popular choice. Training for that is already available, typically as a three day class.
So watch for the 640-553 as the Cisco with Security, it should have a nice impact on the Network Security arena. Network Security consultants should start to flash the certification around a good bit and I think it should be as mainstay as CCNA is to Network Admins within two years or so. Thats usually how long it takes for certifications to gain ground.
Network security companies and IT consultants will need to be sure to maintain the latest skill sets in router and switch lock down and security. Cisco (no surprise) is paving the way here.
